BOTOX TREATMENT FOR UNDER-EYE BAGS
WHAT CAUSES UNDER-EYE BAGS?
Bags under the eyes can be a real source of worry for many patients. Under-eye bags can make patients look tired and aged, and many people may seek a solution to this issue to make their under-eye area appear brighter and smoother. The primary cause for under-eye bags is age, as the fat around the eye area is displaced and the tissues in the area, including in the muscles in the lower eyelid, weaken. This can cause a puffy appearance, and fluid can accumulate in the area below the eye, adding to the appearance of swelling.
USING BOTOX FOR UNDER-EYE BAGS
Botox has been approved in the last decade and a half for a number of cosmetic and medical uses. Botox, made of botulinum toxin A, can safely and effectively treat forehead lines, glabellar lines, and crow’s feet, and researchers continue to test new ways to use the neuromodulator. One of the lesser known treatments is Botox for under-eye bags. One study in 2003 found that Botox for under-eye bags was effective when patients were injected with Botox in the lower eyelids. Participants reported positive results in reducing wrinkles and bagginess under the eyes, as it was able to make the lower eyelid appear filler and plumper.
